$1 ICEE (Any Size) at Valero Gas Stations!!

Summer is finally here, you guys!! And that means scouring my town for inexpensive treats and entertainment for my kids! We love Stripes gas station for their cheap frozen slush drinks, but I noticed this sign the other day at Valero for a $1 ICEE -- ANY SIZE!! Sounds like a great deal to me! Not sure how long this offer will last, or if it's even available at ALL Valero stations, but it's worth keeping an eye out for it!! My kids love to get these and take them with us to the local splash pad!

Home Depot Paint Rebate!! Save $5 per Gallon!

We're currently in the process of doing a bit of home renovation -- replacing our old floors and painting mostly. So I was super excited to see signage for a new rebate on paint at our local Home Depot yesterday. Here's how it works!
  • Save $5 OFF 1 Gallon Cans. Save $20 on 5 Gallon Pails.
  • Brands Included: BEHR® Premium Plus or BEHR® Premium Plus Ultra interior and exterior paints and primers, decorative finishes, waterproofers, stains and cleaners, Martha Stewart Living™ Interior and Exterior Paints and Specialty Finishes Paints, Glidden® Premium Interior & Exterior Paints, Glidden® EZ Track® Ceiling Paint, GRIPPER® Primer, Glidden® Porch & Floor Paint, Flood® Exterior Stains and Cleaners and Zinsser® Bulls Eye® 1-2-3 Primer, Cover Stain® Primer and BIN® Primer
  • Must be purchased between 5/19/11 and 5/30/11. Rebate requests must be postmarked no later than 6/29/11 and received by 7/5/11. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery of rebate check.
  • Download and print the mail-in rebate form HERE. Or submit rebate information ONLINE.
As far as I can see, there doesn't appear to be a limit to the number of rebate discounts you can receive. But if you choose to submit your offer online, you'll need to complete a rebate submission for EACH receipt that you have. 1 receipt = 1 submission. 5 receipts = 5 submissions. If you submit online, you DO NOT need to mail in the offer form or receipts.

Hill Country Fare Trash Bags 10-15 ct. @ $1
**These work out to be $0.06 per bag for the 15 count. Not a bad price, if you're running low on trash bags. I think the best I've ever paid is $0.03 per bag -- Hefty Basic. Trash bags are one of those purchases that really irk me, kinda like toilet paper. We spend so much money on these items to just THROW THEM AWAY! LOL!

Look for those in the regular lunch meat case. Then compare prices per OUNCE to figure out your best deal. Remember that you can buy more than 1 meal deal -- you'll just need 2 sets of every coupon.

Food Town Deals (5/18-5/24)

Food Town is a Houston area grocery store that I've been paying more attention to lately. To be honest, their nearest store is still a little outside my regular shopping area, but my local Walmart will ad-match their prices. Jalapeno Peppers @ $0.39/lb.

Lemons @ $0.10 each

Jumbo Yellow Onions @ $0.29/lb.

H-E-B'S GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

So you guys remember the problem I had with the Coffee-Mate Creamer deal at HEB, right? HEB had their Coffee-Mate Liquid Creamers on sale Buy 2 get 1 FREE with in-store coupon. So I'd tried to buy 3, use 2 FREE coupons I'd received in the mail, and the Yellow In-store coupon for a 3rd one FREE. Needless to say, this ended up being a pain. The coupon wouldn't validate, the cashiers and customer service reps didn't know why it wasn't working, the line was long, my ice cream was melting, etc. In the end, I left the store with only the 2 FREE Coffee-Mates, but emailed HEB headquarters the next day to report the issue.

Several days later, I received a personal email from a local store manager, explaining that she wanted to make the situation right with me. I was thrilled! So I went to the store today to collect the FREE Coffee-Mate I'd been offered and spoke to the manager there, only to find I'd been having email conversations with the manager at ANOTHER store. Still, he let me explain the situation and then promptly marched me back to the creamer aisle and let me choose TWO FREE CREAMERS for my trouble. I tried telling him that one was plenty, but he insisted, and was so very nice -- smiles the entire time. He said he wanted his HEB customers to be happy. And I certainly was!! This is how you earn customer loyalty, folks! So I'll be sending another email to headquarters to let them know how wonderfully I was treated. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my HEB store!

I bought a large amount of meat today too, but here's what I got with coupons...

2 Coffee-Mate Creamers 16 oz. @ $0.00 each!!
Final Cost: 2 FREE!!
**Thanks, HEB!!

2 KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauces @ $1 each
- $1/1 coupons from the 5/15 SS
Final Cost: 2 FREE!!

2 Lunchable Sub Sandwich Kits 3.7 oz @ $1.38 each
- $1/2 peelies found on package
Final Cost: $0.88 each

1 Nescafe Tasters Choice 7 ct. @ $1
- $1/1 coupon found inside package
Final Cost: FREE!!
**Looks like I need to check all the packages I've bought recently. Coupon was found inside a package bought this month, but expires August 2011. Seems they put these coupons in packages that expire Sept. 2011 or earlier. Anyone that regularly reads this blog knows I'm obsessed with these.

Similac Sensitive 1 Qt. Ready to Feed @ $3.84
- $5/1 coupon from the 4/3 SS
Final Cost: FREE + $1.16 overage

Final total for everything in the picture -- just $0.60!! But I also bought $20 dollars worth of meat. When you value your customers, and show how much you appreciate them, it makes them WANT to spend money in your stores. Kroger should take notes!

Great Deal on Chips & Soda @ Randalls!!

Scored a GREAT deal on chips and sodas at Randalls today! They currently have their Lay's Kettle Chips on sale for $1.99 as part of their 4 day only sale. The May 1st Sunday paper had a Pepsi insert which contained coupons that pair great with the sale! If you didn't get this insert, you can also print those coupons HERE. The sale runs through tomorrow, so you still have time to run this deal. I also got a great price on some Fanta soft drinks! Here's what I got...

2 Lay's Kettle Chips @ $1.99 each
- $2/2 coupon from the 5/1 Pepsi Moments to Save insert
Final Cost: $0.99 each
**My hubby's favorite chips!! These Pepsi coupons are "One per Customer".

Sierra Mist 2 liter @ $0.88
- FREE WYB 2 Lays Chips coupon 5/1 Pepsi Moments to Save
Final Cost: FREE!!

4 Fanta Toronja 2 liters @ $0.99 each (Must buy 4!)
- 4) .50/1 hangtags found on bottles (1st doubled to $1)
Final Cost: $0.37 each!!
**If you happen to find these in your store, watch these coupons carefully at checkout. For some reason, I had to show the cashier that my first "like" coupon did not double. He had to manually enter it in. Weird.

Paid $3.60 OOP (included $0.16 tax) for all 7 items in the picture -- an average of $0.51 per item! Not bad!!

Walgreens Run -- Rolling my RR's!!

Weird Walgreens trip today. I'd had $12 in Register Rewards that were expiring today, so I had my trip planned out and knew EXACTLY how much I should've spent. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned at the register and I had to think on the fly. I'd planned to run the Gillette Body Wash and Deodorant deal, but didn't realize the deodorants were on sale Buy 1 Get 1 50% off. So the cashier typed in my deodorant BOGO coupons at full price, but the WAGS discount sent my total far below the $12 I needed to spend. Unfortunately for me, I HAD NO IDEA what was going on -- I just figured I'd done my math wrong. In a last ditch effort to bring my total up, I ran over and grabbed 2 of the Softsoap Body Washes. That was the only deal I could think of that didn't require coupons. Here's what I got....

Gillette Fusion Proglide Razor System @ $9.89
- $4/1 coupon from the 5/1 PG
- $5 RR received
Final Cost: $0.89!

3 Gillette Body Washes 16 oz @ 3 for $10
3 Gillette Deodorants 4 oz @ $4.99 each (BOGO 50% Off Sale)
- 3) Buy Body Wash get Deodorant FREE coupons 5/1 PG (-$4.99 ea.)
- 3) $2/1 Gillette Body Wash coupons from the 5/15 RP
- $2.50 for 50% off Deodorant
- $1.67 for 50% off Body Wash (???)
- $3 RR received WYB 3 Gillette Body Washes
Final Cost: All 6 items FREE + $3.17 moneymaker!
**This deal was VERY confusing. I didn't even figure out what went wrong until I got home and looked over my receipt more closely. Had I caught this in the store, I would've corrected the cashier and had her adjust the BOGO coupons.

Walgreens 72 ct. Paper Plates @ $0.99 with in-ad coupon
**Filler Item.

Skittles @ $0.39
**Filler Item. Not pictured.

2 Softsoap Body Washes 15-18 oz @ 2 for $6
- $4 RR received WYB 2
Final Cost: $1 each!

I'd originally purchased 2 other $0.39 candies as fillers, but had the cashier remove those once I added the Softsoap Body Washes to my transaction. Paid $12 in previous Register Rewards and $1.10 OOP. Got back $12 in new Register Rewards.

So for all the confusion over that Gillette deal, I got everything in the picture -- plus a pack of Skittles which my daughter promptly scarfed down in the car -- for just $1.10!! And my Register Rewards are rolled safely ahead.

Toss-Out Time -- 9 Inserts!!

If you save your coupons as complete inserts, it's time to toss a few out! The following coupon inserts and booklets have expired recently.

09/19/10 SS -- expired as of 4/30/11
12/12/10 SS -- expired as of 4/30/11
01/02/11 SS #1 -- expired as of 4/03/11
01/02/11 SS #2 -- expired as of 4/30/11
01/16/11 SS -- expired as of 4/30/11
01/23/11 RP -- expired as of 4/30/11 **
01/30/11 RP #1 -- expired as of 4/30/11 **
01/30/11 RP #2 -- expired as of 4/30/11 **
02/06/11 SS -- expired as of 5/07/11 **
Randalls Live Whole Heartedly Book
Randalls Joy of Football Book
Randalls Frozen Foods Book (clip New York coupon exp. 5/15)

Be sure to double check your inserts before you toss them out, as inserts are regional, and may contain a few coupons I don't have in mine. For instance, some areas may have received a few regional coupons in the 1/23 RP, 1/30 RP #2, and 2/6 SS that haven't expired yet. My 1/30 RP has a $3 Abreva coupon that doesn't expire until 8/15. And the 1/23 RP has a $0.55 off Eggs WYB Kikkoman product coupon that doesn't expire until 7/31. I'm clipping these coupons and tossing the inserts!

Consider recycling your inserts or donating all your expired coupons to military families overseas! Military bases overseas have volunteer programs that collect and distribute the coupons, making them available to families who shop at the PX or Commissary. (Up to 6 months past their expiration date!) Here's what you have to do...

  • Gather your expired coupons and sort into food and non-food groups. Remember that only "manufacturer coupons" are useful; store specific coupons cannot be used in the PX or Commissary shops.
  • Coupons can be expired up to TWO MONTHS at the time you send them. Anything older than that, you might as well toss or recycle. Remember, however, that you can send current coupons that you do not plan to use.
  • Collect the coupons into baggies or envelopes marked "food" and "non food".
  • These baggies/envelopes will go into a larger envelope for mailing. The Overseas Coupons Program site recommends mailing in USPS Priority mailers, which allows you to send large numbers of coupons for one set fee. This isn't necessary, however, if you'll be sending smaller bundles that would not make a USPS Priority envelope cost effective.
  • Thoroughly review the Overseas Coupons Program site which has detailed information regarding adopting a base and mailing coupons properly.
Personally, I recycle my inserts at my children's school. It's part of a fundraiser and our school earns money for all the paper recycled in the large green dumpsters located in the school's parking lot. If you'd like to learn more about this type of recycling, or to find a school recycling bin near you, just head over to the Paper Retriever website!

Walmart Ad-Matching Run + Mega Sale Info!!

So I decided to do an ad-matching run tonight. While I was there, I stopped in to speak to customer service about ad-matching the Kroger Mega Sale ad. At first, the customer service rep behind the desk told me that I could NOT ad-match the Mega Sale price because it was a "card" price. When this didn't "ring true" with me, knowing the ad-match policy as I do, I asked to speak to a manager. The girl was sweet, but clearly unsure of what the policy actually was. The assistant manager, Kyle, quickly came over and confirmed that YES, they would ad-match the Kroger Mega Sale price, but that I DID have to buy 10. I could mix and match among the Mega Sale items, just as I would at Kroger, but I had to buy 10. Since I didn't come prepared for a Mega Sale price-match, I took him at his word, and got the other things on my list. This is what I got....

AD-MATCH AT WALMART FOR GREATER SAVINGS
H-E-B does not allow stacking of a manufacturer's coupon with any of their yellow in-store coupons (coded M). But if you take the sale ad to Walmart instead, Walmart will match the yellow in-store coupon price, and still allow you to use a manufacturer's coupon against it, saving you even more!! Personally, I wish HEB would address this flaw in their coupon system so that Walmart wouldn't benefit, but until they do, I plan to save as much money as possible -- even if that means taking my HEB ad over to Walmart.
